Rules on Blackjack

Knowing how to play blackjack includes understanding the rules for the players and the dealers.

The main rules on blackjack - the goal of a blackjack player is to end up with a hand which totals 21 or beats the dealer's hand by coming as close to 21 as possible without surpassing it or "busting".

Any total over 21 is considered a "bust" and is an automatic loss.If the first two cards you get are an ace and a ten (or, any other face card) that's a 'blackjack' or "a natural" 21 and will usually pays 1.5x.

As soon as the cards are dealt the game begins and each player takes turns in making decisions on how to proceed with the game.

You can now make the following choices to proceed with your game-Blackjack jargon:

Hit

A player that decides to "hit" by requesting a dealer to serve him an additional card.

Stand

A player that decides to "hit" by requesting a dealer to serve him an additional card.

Split

A player can "split" two cards that are of the same rank into two playable hands and play the two hands independently. When you split pairs you must place a bet on the newly split hand that amounts to the bet on the old hand. Spliting offers the chance to win (or lose) twice in the same game

Double

Player may double their wager during a game.is Doubling is the same as hit with increasing your bet. When you are convinced that the next card will provide a game favourable to you you declare a double. . When doubling you are only entitled to one more additional card. You cannot hit again after deciding to double down.

Insurance

If the dealer's hand shows an ace, you can opt to "insure yourself", to protect your hand against the probability of the dealer having a 10 or a face card concealed. The choice of insurance allows a player to bet up to half of his original bet against the dealer's blackjack. If the dealer's card is a 10 or a face card, you will get your insurance bet back and get paid at 2-1 odds. However, if the dealer has a card that's not a 10 or a face card, you will lose your insurance bet.

Early surrender

As a player, you have the option here of 'surrendering' before the dealer checks for 21

Late surrender

Here the player has the option to surrender after the dealer checks to see if for blackjack

According to blackjack rules, players can receive as many cards as they wish by "hitting" or they can choose to "stand" and receive no more cards.

When a tie occurs between the player and the dealer, the hand becomes a "push" and the player keeps his bet.

Normally, dealers are required to hit when they have 16 or less, and will stop when they have 17 or more.
